We are nearing two years into making daily calls of risk to our health and the health of everyone around us. I’m–like so many–exhausted by the decision fatigue.

What’s been missing for me is any reasonable system to compare activities. I know I’m not going to a bar any time soon, but is a dinner with 4 vaccinated friends more or less risky than grocery shopping? By how much?

I’m thankful to say I found a system that’s brilliantly designed and doing its best to keep up with the research. It’s called the microCOVID Project, and it has the core of what I’ve been missing as I make judgement calls about how I leave my home (especially during my partner’s pregnancy).

The gotcha is their core framework is a big complicated to use (I was lost for 2 days / 6 hours before I figured it out), so I had to try to make it simpler. A version of my simplified tracker is here. I hope it helps you feel more confident in your day-to-day decision making.
